A letter to the editor of the Key West Citizen (August 19), thanking the people of Key West for backing up city officials in trying to keep the "Jabours" project within applicable city guidelines:
Keep city from bending rules on bight project

The Friends and Neighbors of the Key West Bight would like to thank the citizens of Key West: Your continued support to keep the city from "bending" its zoning, building codes and historic district development regulations for the Caroline Street Partners is much appreciated.

A model of what the Caroline Street Partners wants to build on what was formerly Jabour's Trailer Court is on display at Waterfront Market.

Already, 500 residents have signed the petition there that disapproves of the project's proposed density, height, setbacks and landscaping. Most recently, Last Stand's board of directors joined other local groups to demand that the city of Key West firmly enforce its own regulations.

On Aug. 24, another HARC meeting is scheduled at 3 p.m. in the Old City Hall on Greene Street to review modifications to this project. We hope to see you there.

Barbara Bowers and Sheila Rowan
