where?

At the NOAA Environmental Center on the Truman Annex Waterfront in Key West (take Southard Street onto Truman Annex, all the way to the end, curve left.  The NOAA Center is the big building you can't miss.)

We'll hold a brief business meeting before Professor Klein's talk, for election of directors and presentation of a few awards. The public is invited to hear Professor Klein's talk.  A reception for Last Stand members, including refreshments, will follow the program.  Memberships will be available at the meeting.

* Ross Klein has written two books and a number of articles about the cruise industry.  His writing has grown out of his experience as a cruise passenger and cruise enthusiast, having taken more than 30 cruises comprising 300 days.

In his writing and speaking, he raises concerns about the social and environmental sustainability of the cruise industry.  He advocates changes and improvements oriented toward greater environmental responsibility, better treatment of crew, and more fair relationships with port cities - all with a view toward making the cruise industry sustainable.

In addition to his writing on the cruise industry, Ross maintains a web site at www.cruisejunkie.com.  He earns his living as an Associate Professor of Social Work at Memorial University of Newfoundland, in St. John's, Canada.

Click here for a link to an interview with Ross Klein, from the website of The Savvy Traveler, the Minnesota Public Radio travel show by Diana Nyad (2nd article down on the page).  The interview is a bit over 9 minutes long and is in RealAudio format.
